Living Succulent Purse

A couple of weeks ago I got an order for a botanical purse – I've made many for weddings and events. But this time there was a specific request: it needed to last for a long time. Succulents were the answer – but there were some new mechanics involved, because simply gluing the succulents on the purse frame, was not going to keep these little guys alive. Their little roots needed to be in soil!  As I have a shade garden, I don't have much experience with growing succulents. After some research I finally came up with a solution for this project. It took quite a while to finish it, but I learned a lot and know that next time it will go much faster!

Francoise,  This purse is amazing!  You are so clever in your ability to conceptualize an idea and then not only create a piece that is visually stunning and always unique, but you also have the ability to work out the mechanical details.  A rare combination of right and left brain and always fabulous.  Thank you for sharing these photos of your work.  This is why you are not just a great florist but a sought after teacher.  You figure it out and then share you knowledge.  Bravo.
