Chartreuse Table Flowers

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

In late winter, there aren’t many chartreuse flowers or greenery to be harvested in the garden yet , except for the fabulous  hellebore and euphorbia.

However, blossoms of cymbidiums and  glads as well as hypericum berries, succulents and foliage of favorite houseplants like maidenhair and begonias, offer plenty of choice for chartreuse table arrangements at this time of the year.

Nu Bouquets

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

The post on Nu Bouquets  from last week Thursday mysteriously disappeared and I wanted to feature it again:

A few weeks ago I did  a post on whimsical bridal bouquets inspired by ideas of european designers. I sparingly incorporated new textures – pearls, feathers, wire,…- juxtaposed fresh and traditional combinations and figured out new techniques to realize these fun bouquets.

Thank you Joni for the fabulous pictures – and for the clever name . I like it!

Fun and different!

Flower purses  make  wonderful hostess gifts and are perfect centerpieces for smaller tables.

Or would you like a unique bride’s bouquet or bridesmaid’s bouquet? As always, the possibilities are endless!

Whimsical Bouquets!

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Last week I participated in the Art of Wedding Bridal Show at the Gerding Theater; it was  a perfect opportunity to introduce a few whimsical bridal bouquets. Inspired by ideas in european design books that I bought during my last trip back home, I sparingly incorporated new elements:  sisal, a natural fiber, along with a variety of decorative wires, a few pearls and feathers. Et voilà! what fun it was to patiently add a new set of details in bouquets!

Autumnal Wreath

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Come join us and learn how to make a stunning Autumnal Wreath on November 16th (there is only one space left) or November 17th.

Create an  eye-catching textural wreath , which will provide a classic welcome at the door – or a beautifully seasonal centerpiece. You’ll use materials which reflect the abundance of the Pacific Northwest landscape: rough bark, cushiony moss, lichen-encrusted twigs, bright berries, and small fruit from apple and pear trees.
Monday, November 16 or Tuesday, November 17    6:30 – 9:00pm    $75

Details! Details!

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Texture is the visual or tactile surface and appearance of something….. I revel in it and love to juxtapose unexpected combinations of colors and shapes – Mother Nature is *the* ideal source for inspiration!

These arrangements were made in long, very narrow vases; it was a blast to decorate them with foliage, berries, mushrooms, bark and lichens to incorporate the vessels in the design.
