A New Approach

For Françoise, the Woodlands sprouted from a childhood memory that took a life of its own. Using foliage, bark, berries, seedpods, twigs, mushrooms, herbs and some flowers, we’ll explore how to make woodland bouquets as well as centerpieces.

Botanical Couture came in stages; shoes and purses came first followed by headpieces (spearheaded by photographer Ted Mishima) and most recently botanical jewelry. You will hone your artistic talents and will be encouraged to listen to your intuition and further your own vision.

Botanical Couture

We’ll explore different ideas for botanical headpieces, purses and shoes; we will discuss sourcing materials and the mechanics involved to create a variety of these unique designs.

Aluminium wire will be manipulated to create the base for botanical rings, bracelets and necklaces. These beautiful detailed pieces will make for unique accessories for any event or wedding.

Woodland Design

In this workshop you will learn the mechanics behind creating textural and detailed designs that will expand the way you think about flowers. We will discuss and design personal flowers, unique centerpieces and ceremony arrangements.

This workshop offers practical, hands-on experience that will further develop your own skills and increase your confidence to explore outside the box. Using foliage, bark, berries, seedpods, twigs, mushrooms, herbs and some flowers, we’ll explore how to make woodland bouquets as well as centerpieces.

*Day three begins with a trip to the Portland Flower Market.

hello Francoise, i am one of many who are inspired by your work. i now live in glorious Portland and have recently started a business which combines floral arts and meditation. http://www.mindfulflowers.com. although the process of creating your work may be far from meditative, the woodland temples that are created are awe-inspiring. i would love to connect with you. In my dreams, i would sign up for the woodland design class in January. in another dream, i help you as an soul- sister intern. would you consder meeting me when you are back in Portland? we live in the north east grant park and i celebrate the beauty of trees, garden and te rich quality of the creative spirit daily. Hello! so sorry for this super late reply… just saw your message – I would love to meet with you. My travel schedule is a bit crazy, but I am sure we can find the time to get together!

    Francois,
I just had the pleasure of catching the last half of an OPB segment featuring you. I was mesmerized by your artistic style and love of design. As an artist myself, I so appreciate individuals with that gift.
I looked on your website to find about your workshops. Sadly, your Woodland workshop, scheduled next week here in the Portland area, is sold out.
Could you tell me if you’re planning on having another Woodland workshop in the near future? I would love to get more information.
