Bamboo Structure for a Botanical Headpiece

Last month I took a class with Charissa Brock, who is a brilliant bamboo artist. How fortunate am I that she lives in Portland! Her spacious studio is filled with stunning designs and lots of tools. I was interested to learn how to design a headpiece, using a bamboo structure. She shared many techniques and I quickly found out how very time consuming working with bamboo is. But the results are so worth the patience and the effort!

It took me about 10 hours to finalize the structure and it was sa blast to decorate it with lots of textures. A few days later Theresa Bear and Mercedes Tabish drove to Hug Point, a favorite beach on the northern Oregon coast. We got there before sunrise to catch the perfect light for the shoot. Mercedes was delighted how light the structure was and how stable it was also. As always, Theresa took the most magical pictures!
