Learn the ‘secrets’ of European flower design: how to create natural looking designs with stunning color palettes and layered textures. We’ll also share tips in buying, picking and conditioning fresh flowers and greens. You will create a colorful arrangement of seasonal flowers, berries and fragrant herbs!

The hands-on classes are limited to 8 students per class and are conducted at Françoise’s Studio – 2754 SE 33rd Place. Prices include flowers, supplies, use of tools, and best of all, your creation goes home with you! Receipt of your check (or payment with Paypal) for the full tuition secures your place in the class.

Tuesday, October 29 – Sculptural Beginnings
For Françoise, the Woodlands sprouted from a childhood memory that took a life of its own. Using foliage, bark, berries, seedpods, twigs, mushrooms, herbs and some flowers, we’ll explore how to make woodland bouquets as well as centerpieces. We’ll discuss color, texture, form, ideas and techniques.

Wednesday, October 30 – Botanical Couture
We’ll explore different ideas for botanical purses as centerpieces or in bridal arrangements and will discuss sourcing materials and the mechanics involved to create a wide variety of these unique designs. In the afternoon we’ll make flower rings and other botanical jewelry.

Yesterday I posted images of the woodland centerpieces and bouquets that everyone made in the workshop.

In the spring Victoria Clausen invited me to teach a 2 day workshop in her studio in Baltimore. The first day we focused on woodlands, the second day on botanical couture.
