The bride requested 50/50 red and green for her woodland bouquet, so I used more flowers and less texture than usual. A variety of mosses, lichens and mushrooms cover the base. The thin green bullion wire secures the string of pearl succulents on the handle.

It is fun to decorate the rim and handle of the basket so it ‘matches’ the flower crown. Time consuming, but well worth it!

Last week I posted pictures of Ariel and Aron’s wedding at the Forestry Center. Here are some pictures of the woodland centerpieces.

‘Klein maar fijn” my grandmother often said. It means: “Small but special” . She liked to remind us kids that bigger didn’t mean better. Do I ever feel that way about flowers! Small delicate blooms  are definitely favorites. These small treasures are perfect to make detailed flower crowns for flower girls or brides alike.

Another favorite! Especially the deep purple ones. Like most woody stems, they often have a difficult time hydrating. The best remedy is to use ‘Quick Dip’: pour about 1″ in a small plastic container; after re-cutting the stems, dip them for a few seconds in this product, which magically helps flowers hydrate much more easily.
