Woodland/Botanical Couture Workshop in Mexico City

Last year Olympia Frangos, with Allium by  Olympia in Mexico City invited me to teach a woodland/botanical couture workshop in her studio in Mexico City. In February my friend Jo Jarvis and I went down south and we had the best experience teaching 28 very enthusiastic and talented students ; it was my first experience instructing with interpreters and  it went seamlessly.  Olympia, thank you for your incredible hospitality and for organizing this workshop so well; we so appreciated everything you did. You designed your beautiful studio perfectly to teach workshops; we look forward to coming back to teach again!

And a big thank you also to photographer Maureen Evans who documented the workshop beautifully.

Video for Wedding/Event Workshop in the Studio on April 6-8

Here are some examples of what you will learn during the 3 day, hands-on wedding/event workshop in the studio. You will learn many new mechanics and techniques, which will allow you to expand your repertoire, so you can offer your clients unique ideas.

In the intimate setting of the studio – only 5 students can attend – you will receive plenty of personal attention.

For more info or to register please go to https://francoiseweeks.com/wedding-design-workshop-in-francoises-studio-in-portland-or-2/

Susan McLeary, Ann Arbor, MI wrote what her experience was like to attend the 3 day workshop:

“I was lucky enough to attend her 3 day wedding workshop this fall in beautiful Portland, Oregon. It was so wonderful to finally meet and learn from Françoise, after admiring and following her work for years. I used to gaze at her incredible pieces and wonder ” how did she do that?!” It was so thrilling to learn the secrets behind her gorgeous designs.
The 3 days were invigorating, eye-opening, and restorative- exactly what my creative soul needed. I left feeling re-charged, inspired, and looking at flowers, foliage, and nature’s “textures” in a whole new way!
I can’t recommend her workshops enough, I am simply a better designer after spending time with her!”

Check out here what other students have to say about their experience at the workshops:

Haute Couture Botanique Show

Last fall, photographer Ted Mishima and I decided to do a  show together. We have been collaborating for 4 years on botanical couture photo shoots and we thought it would be fun to showcase his photography and have some models who would showcase botanical headpieces, jewelry, purses and shoes.

Mount Burns, owner of St John’s Coffee Roasters, generously offered to host the event at his coffee shop and Nyki Burns contacted several of her friends asking if they would model.

The collaboration was fantastic! The show was very well attended and we all had a blast that evening.

As always,Ted captured great images:

Botanical Shoe Embellished with Orchids and Texture

Fallopia foliage covered the outside of this stiletto, while black begonia leaves were glued on the inside. A  few orchids as well as snippets of green blackberries, succulents, kangoroo paws, dill, sedum, penstemon seedpods and grass enhanced the rim of the shoe as well as the heel.

You will learn to make your own fairy tale shoe, as well as stunning  purses, jewelry and headpieces during the 2 day Botanical Couture workshop at Vinewood Plantation, near Atlanta on April 22 & 23.
